June 5th webinar and the need for speed!
During today’s facilitated webinar we waded back into water and a discussion of how to ensure the integrity of this key input in a production setting. The working group discussed water for irrigation, as a diluent and for dust abatement as well as its potential use in a harvest setting/operation. Should these discrete uses require varying (microbial) qualities of water? This will remain under discussion and as a facilitator I am certain we will continue to review and refine these sections while we simultaneously move on to other issues. To check in on where the DRAFT language stands, please check the notes from today’s webinar and the current working DRAFT document.
On June 12th, we will hopefully take up some of the more “established” food safety practices including sanitation and employee hygiene. These may go a little faster in terms of discussion although the process of constant iteration, review and refinement that comes through a diversity of opinion, experience and knowledge brought by the participants - while sometimes painful – yields a better product. You can register and preview the June 12th agenda here.
I encourage folks, as we move into the final months (there are only eight more calls scheduled), to remain engaged and to review work and provide comments and suggestions (to any or all facilitators) between webinars. We remain committed to producing a high quality first draft in July – but cannot do it without continued input from each of you. Thanks for your work!
